Squamish Development Update- August

The future of downtown Squamish is set to change immensely. With the third reading passed for Waterfront Landing, the Oceanfront Park at Newport Beach beginning to take shape, and more residential commercial development approvals granted, downtown Squamish is becoming a playground for outdoor enthusiast, developers and people looking to live in a coastal community where the mountains meet the ocean.

Here is what’s happening with new developments in Squamish for the month of August.

Newport Beach

With phase one of the twenty year development, the Green Tech Centre, now underway focus has shifted to the next phase of the Newport Beach project, the Oceanfront Park area. The Oceanfront Beach and Park will be situated at the southern end of the development and will be a significant community amenity providing locals and visitors year-round access to the ocean and land surrounding.

Public outreach is underway asking for community feedback about what locals would like to see in the Oceanfront Park. This feedback will help move the vision forward and begin the detailed design phase. You can have your say about Newport Beach’s Oceanfront Park here:

Soleil & Summits View

These downtown townhome projects are coming to the end of their inventory. If you’re hoping to secure a new townhome in downtown this is your chance. There aren’t any more townhome pre-sales coming up in the near future for downtown, as many new projects will be comprised of mostly condos moving forward. Cleveland Gardens

There are a handful of Cleveland Gardens boutique condos on Cleveland Ave still remaining. These condos have rooftop lounges and stunning mountain views. Two bedroom condos are starting at $560K. They will be completing mid 2018.

Newly announced downtown developments

A six-story mixed residential commercial development will go ahead on Victoria St. It will include 33 one, two and three-bedroom condos some with flex or den space. In terms of architecture and layout this building is considered of high standard for Squamish. It is unclear yet if the condos will be slated for rentals.

Trails

Modern three bedroom duplexes with rooftop lounges are coming to 3rd Ave downtown Squamish. The Trails development will be a unique offering for downtown with the majority of the upcoming new constructions being condos.

Amaji

Kainos Development brings us Amaji, downtown Squamish condos which will be located on 3rd Ave. Not much information is released about this project yet. Watch this space.

Brennan Rd Single Family Lots

Finally it appears Squamish may have some single family lots coming up. The single-family home subdivision off Brennan Rd in Brackendale passed its third reading of rezoning in July. Building will not commence until dike upgrades are made to the area that borders the property. The lots will likely be released sometime next year.

Waterfront Landing

Waterfront Landing is inching closer to reality passing its third reading last month. The welcomed addition of 900-1,100 housing units on the east side of the Mamquam Blind Channel has been met with immense community support. The project would see duplexes, townhomes and condos with rental market housing. A pedestrian footbridge will be constructed to connect the development with downtown Squamish.
